Meet Roger and Karen Simmons

Bellavalle Lagotto is a home based kennel located in Alabama. We live in a small town that is south of Birmingham and north of Montgomery. We are dedicated to breeding a small number of our high quality dogs on a limited basis. Our main focus is on the health and temperament of the puppies that are produced. Our breeding dogs have been carefully picked for their conformation to the breed standard and temperament. We are committed to health testing all dogs in our breeding program. We health test for eyes, hips, patellas, Lagotto Storage Disease, Juvenile Epilepsy, HUU and also a DNA panel test that checks for a number of different genetic diseases. 

We raise our puppies in our home where they will be given love and attention on a daily basis. The puppies are raised using the Puppy Culture method as well as incorporating some of the methods of The Monks of New Skete. The puppies are talked to and held regularly and they are exposed to everyday household noises such as the vacuum cleaner, pots & pans, tv, music. The puppies have their nails cut on a regular basis and will be de-wormed multiple times before going to their new homes. The puppies will be exposed to various toys and surfaces while in our home. The mother of the litter will be available to meet with prospective families (if possible the sire of the litter as well). We are always willing to answer any questions or provide more information about our puppies and any of our dogs at any time.

Reputable breeders know and understand the difference between a purebred dog and a well-bred purebred dog. A reputable breeder will do the best possible to match the sire and dam in order to produce the best possible puppies in both temperament and conformation.

Reputable breeders will make sure the breedings they do will be with dogs that meet the AKC standard for that breed and that will produce puppies that meet that AKC standard to the best of their ability.

Reputable breeders will complete the testing recommended for the breed on each of the parents prior to breeding to ensure they produce the healthiest puppies possible.

Reputable breeders understand how to properly socialize their puppies and they are willing to spend the time & effort to make sure the puppies are well socialized before going to their new homes.

Reputable breeders will stand behind the puppies they sell. They will be willing to take the puppy/dog back at any point in the life of the dog.

Reputable breeders will be available for the life of your dog to answer any questions you may have and to offer assistance should any problems arise.
